Mercury retrograde in Scorpio: go back to what you've been saying

October 22, 2026•5 min read

I recorded this video on 21 October. Mercury stations retrograde on Saturday 24 October at 09:12 CEST, at 20°59′ Scorpio, and turns direct on Friday 13 November at 16:53 CET, at 5°02′ Scorpio.

If you've followed my videos since September, you'll know I keep coming back to one word, the sacred. Sorry, I'm going to say it again.

Table of Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, Swedish time: pre-shadow starts Sun 4 Oct, 11:09 CEST, 5°02′ Scorpio; stations retrograde Sat 24 Oct, 09:12 CEST, 20°59′ Scorpio; stations direct Fri 13 Nov, 16:53 CET, 5°02′ Scorpio; post-shadow ends Mon 30 Nov, 07:16 CET, 20°59′ Scorpio.

Two things this retrograde is here to do

One, to help you reconnect with language that isn't part of your inner world yet. The language you need to express your needs, reconnect with your desire, and start forming sentences around what's sacred for you.

Two, to show you which language has to be nurtured and expressed, again and again, so that the first thing can exist in your life.

What has come up since September

I bet by now you've had conversations where old grievances came to the surface and you said them out loud. I've definitely had them.

Pluto went direct on 16 October, and on 20 October Venus and Pluto made their second square, this time with Venus retrograde. The first was in mid-September, when I recorded the video outside about respect and said watch out for this transit.

We're in it now.

Go back to what you've been saying

How did you put yourself across when you aired your grievances? And why did you shape them that way? Mercury retrograde gives us the chance to go back and look.

Say a person carries an old betrayal underneath. They have an interaction with their partner, or a colleague, and they feel that betrayal. It may not even have been one. They're sensitive to it, so they say, "I don't trust you."

Does that make sense? You gave language to the shape of your own experience. So what words did you use for what was sacred to you, and for the violation?

Diagram, go back to what you said: 1, the old impression, a betrayal you carry underneath; 2, the trigger, an interaction with a partner or a colleague; 3, the words it took, "I don't trust you." Then ask: how did I put myself across, and why did I shape it that way?

Mercury in Scorpio: the shape of the memory

All of this is coming up for a reason. An unresolved part of your psyche is being pushed until it comes to the surface. The goal is to make it conscious, so you're no longer possessed by all that swirling stuff, and to build language around it.

And because this happens in Scorpio, it asks you this. What is the shape of the memory of the violation? How do you still carry the impression of the original disempowerment?

That betrayal impression sits in the space between a person and whoever they're dealing with. It creates a blur, and they feel it somatically. Through these transits we learn to bring it closer by exposing it. Where's the origin of it?

Mercury in Scorpio gives us depth, right? It lets us see and feel the underground where that core impression lives.

Two bookends: Jupiter and Pluto

At the retrograde station Mercury is at 20 degrees Scorpio and Jupiter at 23 degrees Leo. That's a square, closest on 23 October, about two degrees wide. I describe it as crisis in action. I'm learning new language for my truth, and breaking away from truths about myself that could still be rooted in something disempowering.

On 13 November Mercury stations direct and squares Pluto, at 3 degrees Aquarius. That one is a crisis in consciousness square, an individuating one.

The square to Jupiter says, "I want to try this new thing out. I'm not sure how, so I'll put one step forward and test the environment." The square to Pluto says, "I feel stuck in this thing that is limiting, and I need to break out of it."

Chart of Mercury's path through Scorpio, 1 October to early December 2026. Mercury enters the shadow on Sun 4 Oct, turns retrograde on Sat 24 Oct (square Jupiter), meets the Mars square on Fri 30 Oct, turns direct on Fri 13 Nov (square Pluto) and leaves the shadow on Mon 30 Nov. The retrograde stretch is red.

So think of it as two bookends. At the start, the tendency is to lean backwards. Woo, nope, I don't know if I should do that now. By the end it's more like, ooh, I don't want to do that anymore, it feels yuck. I think that's pretty cool, to be honest.

30 October: Mars squares Mercury

Six days in, on Friday 30 October at 18:20 CET, Mars squares Mercury, with Mercury at 17 degrees Scorpio and Mars at 17 degrees Leo.

Don't be surprised if you shout out your needs like a hot-headed, triple-stacked Aries person. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, all in Aries, in your face, right?

I want you to own that. You can always do a Libra thing afterwards and say, "Phew, that was a bit too much." That energy is fuel for taking up the space you want to take up around what's sacred for you.

When you squiggle out of the old patterns at the end, Mars gave you the energy for it. This is my flag. Here I am, this is me, this is what I need. Simple.

Back on the surface: 4 December

Mercury squares Jupiter again on Friday 4 December at 08:02 CET, now direct. You'll have forgotten about this by then, so mark it somewhere.

Everything from your Mars square moment comes back. The words are define, solidify, bond with your truth. Your conviction to preserve the sacred needs to be so strong that you're not questioning it.

It's almost like a heroine or hero's journey. The descent began on 15 September, you've gone all the way through the underworld, and you arrive back on the surface. The world looks the same, but you've changed, and that's what change looks like.

If you're tracking the whole cycle, the Sun meets Mercury on Wednesday 4 November at 15:24 CET, and Mercury leaves its shadow on Monday 30 November at 07:16 CET.

Timeline from the descent to the surface: Tue 15 Sep, the descent begins, Venus square Pluto; Sat 24 Oct, Mercury retrograde, one step forward; Fri 30 Oct, Mars square, this is my flag; Fri 13 Nov, Mercury direct, it feels yuck; Fri 4 Dec, back on the surface, conviction.

Reflect

Questions to reflect on

  1. When you aired your grievances this past month, what words did you use?
  2. Why do you think you shaped them that way?
  3. What's one thing that matters to you that you'd like to put into words before 13 November?
  4. If you find yourself shouting around 30 October, could you own it, and do the Libra thing afterwards?
  5. What's your flag? Finish this sentence: "Here I am, this is me, this is what I need: ____."
